I’ve been fascinated by the subject of depression for years and wanted to share some thoughts – but let’s start with the basics.

Feeling low isn’t the same as depression. Major depression is diagnosed when at least 5 symptoms persist for 2+ weeks. One must be either constant sadness or losing interest in what you once loved.

Other symptoms include:
• Trouble sleeping (too much or too little)
• Appetite changes
• Low energy or fatigue
• Feeling worthless or guilty
• Restlessness or slowed movements
• Trouble concentrating
• Thoughts of self-harm

It’s not just a rough patch – it’s when these feelings take over your life. If this resonates, reaching out for help isn’t a weakness
