Remember when we were kids and did something hard we’d shout “Look at me!”
We were proud. We wanted to be seen

But over time, we learn to shrink
To stop showing off
To downplay what feels like an achievement
To stay quiet about the things we know deserve applause

I’m done with that 🙂
I’m bringing that instinct back 😎

So here I am – my “park, grab, and pull” moment.
I collect them.
And I try to optimise the location –
Always looking for the best spot to rise.

I park my wheelchair.
Grab whatever’s there – a wall, a tree, a pipe, a railing –
And I pull myself up.
To stretch.
To feel the blood return to my legs.

It doesn’t last long.
It’s hard. It takes focus.
There’s shaking, bending, awkward movement –
people stare. Let them.

So yeah I’m making a thing out of it
I’ve earned this moment.

If you’ve got one of those moments –
where most people won’t care
but you know what it cost –
take a photo.
Share it 😘
