The day started grey. Cold, a low-energy drink with no kick.
Time to mix things up.
First ingredient: 🚿A shock to the system.
I stepped into the shower and turned the water from hot to cold. BAM – instant reaction. My body protested, my breath strengthened, my brain react. within seconds, something shifted. Dopamine. Norepinephrine. That first splash of the day’s neurochemical cocktail.
Still grey outside🌧️That kind of rain that doesn’t pour, just annoying – endless tiny drops like whispering, stay inside, don’t bother today.
Not an option.
Second ingredient: Light, one of the best drug ☀️💉
I rolled out, eyes up, scanning for the sun. Even behind thick clouds, it’s there, waiting to be absorbed. No sunglasses. No windows. Just raw, unfiltered daylight triggering a shpritz of serotonin😘 My body started catching on.
Twenty minutes in, the grey cracked slightly.
Third ingredient: Flavor. Color. A boost.
I rolled into a smoothie shop. Coconut water 🥥🍌bananas, dates. A hit of electrolytes, natural sugars, minerals. A direct infusion of life. The first sip landed, and my world got a little brighter.
Fourth ingredient: Movement. A shake-up.
I hit the park, seeking out gravel, stones, the roughest flatground possible. Rolling 🦽 over it, every vibration traveled through my body, shaking out stiffness, kicking circulation. My body needed this – a full-system shake 🫨
Fifth ingredient: Strength ✊I found a rail, locked my wheels, grabbed hold, and pulled myself up. From sitting to standing. Again. And again. My muscles fired, nerves lit up, blood pumped, and my brain registered the effort 🧠 More dopamine in the mix, more endorphins, more fuel.
Sixth ingredient: Breath 🫁😮💨the final stir.
I put on guided breathwork from my phone. Deep inhale. Hold. Exhale. Repeat. My breath synced with my movements, the rhythm feels good now. Oxygen flooding my system, everything clicking into place.
The cocktail was complete 🍹
The grey was gone ☺️
I had mixed it that way.
