There are years after the diagnosis where your body is already failing and you still look like someone who should be able to handle things. So people expect things from you. And you let them. Because nothing on you proves otherwise. It is okay to set boundaries BEFORE the world can SEE why you need them. And if someone gets upset by those boundaries, it doesn’t mean it is wrong. It usually means that it works. You stopped absorbing more than you can carry. That creates friction. And that friction is very uncomfortable. But it is temporary. That moment - the tension, the doubt, the guilt - it passes. What stays is a bit more energy a bit more control over your own tough life. Short-term discomfort for long-term peace.
